CHILD
PROTECTION
(Safe Children, Safe Church)
It
takes a village to raise a child is a phrase used to describe the responsibility
that the whole community has in the care of its children. Within our
church community many people give generously of their time and their
skills for the children and young people our parish.
It is however, a sad reflection of our society that a small percentage
of people abuse their position of responsibility and trust and it is
for this reason that steps need to be taken to protect all the children
and young people of our parish.
Nationally, the Church has appointed a Child Protection Officer
in each Diocese with a responsible person in each parish.
The role of this person will be to ensure that any person involved with
children or young people within our parish will receive training on
Child Protection issues and will be subjected to a CRB (criminal records
bureau) check.
Every parishioner has a role in supporting this vital work.
Our parish representative is Patricia Annesley who can be contacted via the
Presbytery.
