The Catholic Agency for Overseas
Development – or CAFOD – is the official overseas aid charity
of the Catholic Church in England and Wales, which enables communities
worldwide to cope with the realities of living with poverty, famine,
persecution and natural disaster.
A CAFOD Group was established
in Wanstead in June 2000 after Father Sammon became Parish Priest. Although
still small – there are approximately 8 people active in the group
– it aims to support CAFOD’s projects by raising awareness
and fundraising.
In addition to fundraising
for specific projects there are two annual collections, the Lenten Fast
and the Harvest Family Fast envelopes. Money raised in this way is used
by CAFOD to continue their work with long-term projects and to respond
to emergencies as they occur anywhere in the world.
The Group
regularly fund raise and seek to raise awareness for all CAFOD projects.
New members are always welcome and if you are willing to help please
