FOCUS - The Parish Magazine of Our Lady Of Lourdes, Wanstead

Focus started as an initiative from the Parish Pastoral Council in 1997. A volunteer editorial team was set up and the first issue was published for Advent 1997. Since then we have prepared two or three issues a year.

The magazine has been self-supporting from the outset with the cost of each issue being covered by advertising and the cover price, which was 50p initially and is now £1.00 due to rising costs.

The magazine is very much a Parish enterprise. Parishioners contribute articles and parishioners edit and prepare the magazine. A parishioner prints the final version. The magazine has always been professionally printed and bound, but the preparation has always been by dedicated volunteers working in their own time.

Contributions are welcome at any time and can be sent to the editor c/o the Presbytery or electronically by floppy disk or e-mail. We particularly welcome contributions from our younger parishioners. All items are considered and can include stories, reports, puzzles, jokes, cartoon etc.

Advertising is also welcomed as a way of covering costs of preparation and printing. If any parishioner wishes to advertise their business in Focus they should contact the Advertising Manager, Peter Reilly via the presbytery.

The main aims of the magazine are to inform, educate and entertain.
