Annual Assumption Convent Garden Party

Annual Assumption Garden Party will be held on Saturday 14th August 3pm – 5pm at Convnet of the Assumption, 13 the Avenue, Wanstead E11 2EE

All Welcome at 5pm 1st Vespers (Evening Prayer) of the Assumption.

Update COVID Guidance

We ask the following to be observed.

  • Parishioners are encouraged to sanitise hands on entering and exiting the Church.
  • Everyone attending Mass or services in Church is urged to wear a mask covering
    nose and mouth at all times unless medically exempt.
  • If you are displaying any cold or flu symptoms please do not attend Church.

welcome to OLOL,  Moses Itene, who is a student for the priesthood. Moses will be with us in the parish for the next three weeks as part of his studies.

Feast of Saints Peter & Paul – 29th June

Tuesday this week is the Feast of SS Peter and Paul and is a Holy Day
of Obligation when Catholics are requested to attend Mass. There will
be three Masses – 7am, 9am and 8pm

Open air Mass & Parish Picnic – Cancelled

Unfortunately in light of yesterday’s announcement regarding the delay in the removal of COVID restrictions- the open air mass & parish picnic due to be held on the 27th June at Eton Manor has been cancelled.

Sacramental Preparation 2022

Confirmation

The sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated at OLOL Wanstead by
Bishop Alan on the evening of Friday February 11th 2022. Preparation for the sacrament in this parish involves 12 sessions, 4:30pm to 6:00pm Sundays, spread over the year from September. Covid permitting, these will be held in the pastoral centre. It involves compulsory study between
sessions, regular attendance at Mass, and increasing involvement in parish life,
including participation in masses and social action in the parish. There is also
a compulsory retreat weekend 26th -28th November 2021.

Please note these dates and make sure you keep these dates free before you apply.
Those in Year 10 or above in school year 2021-2022, who would like to be
prepared for this sacrament should in the first instance personally contact

Please give your full name, place and date of baptism (certificates of baptism
will need to be provided at enrolment) , address, school and school year. Also
confirm an email address which is regularly looked at, and can be used to
contact you at short notice.

1st Holy Communion

Parents who would like their children to be prepared to receive the Sacrament
of Reconciliation and 1st Holy Communion in school year 2021-2022, should
in the first instance contact Michaela Mouquet by email at:
michaelaololcc@gmail.com. Children should be in Year 3 or above in school year
2021-2022.

Please give your child’s name, full address, school and school year,
and date and place of baptism. Certificates of baptism will need to be
provided before enrolment.

Preparation sessions will take place, Covid permitting, in the pastoral centre on
Saturday mornings. In addition there will be 6 compulsory parent Zoom
meetings. We work in partnership will you to prepare your child. Dates for
the programme will be given at enrolment. No weekends either end of a
OLOL primary school holiday are currently planned.

The deadline for receipt of expressions of interest for both Confirmation and 1st Holy Communion is Sunday June 27th. This is to enable planning of the programmes to go ahead.

Holy Hour for Corpus Christi, Sunday 6 June 5pm – 6pm

There will be a Holy Hour with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction this Sunday 6 June for the Solemnity of Corpus Christi from 5pm until 6pm.
All are welcome to attend to spend some time in front of the Eucharist on this important day where we give thanks for what our Saviour has done for us on the cross and in Holy Communion
